Dr. Eckstein is a general practitioner who integrates conventional and alternative forms of medicine in a team approach to healing.
Education, Training, & Experience
Dr. Eckstein graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine in 1972. He interned at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Boston, MA. He then entered the Public Health Service as a General Medical Officer and served for two years as Chief Medical Officer at the U.S. Public Health Service Clinic in San Pedro, CA. After leaving the Public Health Service, he immersed himself in holistic medicine which included training in acupuncture with the Medical Acupuncture for Physicians course at UCLA. For more than 10 years, he was in private practice in Santa Monica, CA. In addition, he was the Medical Director of Olympic Healing Arts Center which focused on myofascial therapy and injury rehabilitation. In 1994 Dr. Eckstein relocated to Boulder, CO where he continued his private practice in alternative and holistic medicine. He continued his training in Auriculotherapy and acupuncture and attained board certification in holistic medicine. He has been practicing in Boulder for 17 years and incorporates all of these skills into his general practice.
Dr. Larry Eckstein has trained in Aikido, attaining the rank of Sandan (third degree black belt). He leads a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly and doing outdoor activities which include hiking and biking. He is an avid basketball fan and has an interest in oriental art and calligraphy. In his free time, he enjoys playing the guitar, listening to folk music and blues, and spending time with his wonderful family.
